According to the New York City Department of Sanitation, Báez returned the commemorative trash can almost a week after being recorded dumping its contents onto a sidewalk and walking away with it. This occurred during the June 18 parade, celebrating the Knicks’ first NBA title in 53 years.

The city issued two fines to Báez: $75 for littering and $100 for interfering with sanitation operations. These penalties mark the maximum fines for initial offenses, per the department’s guidelines.

Video of Báez’s actions quickly spread across social media, capturing wide attention. Attendees filled Broadway in Lower Manhattan to celebrate the Knicks’ championship win over the San Antonio Spurs in five games.

Following the incident, JPMorgan Chase confirmed Báez’s departure from the company. A company spokesperson reiterated she was no longer employed there but provided no further details.

The Department of Sanitation clarified that no cost estimate is available for cleaning up the small amount of trash related to the incident. This is minimal compared to the 75,260 pounds of confetti and litter collected after the parade.
