Patrick Mahomes has secured another significant payout with the Kansas City Chiefs. His NFL contract now features an extension of two years, adding $239.05 million in new money. This adjustment raises the total contract value to an astounding $504.75 million, lasting through the 2033 season.
Remarkably, the contract structure ensures that all $504.75 million becomes fully guaranteed. With potential incentives and escalators, this figure could rise even higher to $522.25 million. Mahomes is set to earn over half a billion dollars, regardless of future play.
Beginning in 2027, the deal will average $64 million annually, establishing a new NFL record. These figures, although impressive, follow a previous agreement from September 2023, where both sides planned to revisit the terms after 2026.
Currently, Mahomes’ average annual value (AAV) is $45 million for 2026, placing him 13th among NFL quarterbacks. Comparatively, Dak Prescott holds the top spot with $60 million per year. Few would argue Mahomes ranks 13th-best, considering his standing against players like Trevor Lawrence and Deshaun Watson. Addressing his contract was inevitable.
In 2020, Mahomes signed a historic 10-year, $450 million extension, then the largest in North American sports history. At the time, $45 million annually seemed high. Six years later, many quarterbacks earn similar amounts. By the end of 2025, Mahomes’ career earnings should approach $232 million. His potential future earnings could take him closer to a billion through his performance on the field.
Beyond football, Mahomes earns roughly $20 million annually through endorsements with brands such as State Farm, Adidas, Oakley, and Head & Shoulders. He also holds a minority stake in MLB’s Kansas City Royals and maintains ownership investments in the MLS’s Sporting Kansas City and NWSL’s Kansas City Current.
Patrick Mahomes’ estimated net worth is about $160 million, ranking him among the wealthiest professional athletes. Impressively, he is still only 30 years old.
