Rachel Dratch is enjoying a period of recognition and success. Known for her comedic talent, she has recently ventured into new territories with a mystical-themed podcast and a return to Broadway. These ventures have brought her further acclaim, including a second Tony nomination.
Dratch hosts a podcast called “Woo Woo,” where she covers topics like ghosts, astral projection, and the supernatural. Despite the themes, she clarifies that she doesn’t believe in all things mystical. “Sometimes, because I have the podcast, I think it tips me into talking about a lot of this kooky stuff, and I’m not all about kooky stuff,” she commented, highlighting a balance between exploration and personal belief.
This interest in the mystical isn’t entirely new for Dratch. In her 2012 memoir “Girl Walks Into a Bar …,” she shared prophetic dreams and stories about a channeler named Kendra. Kendra once predicted Dratch would become a mother, a prediction that came true when her son Eli was born in 2010.
At 60, Dratch has also realized her dream of starring in a Broadway comedy. Her first major role was in “POTUS: Or, Behind Every Great Dumbass Are Seven Women Trying to Keep Him Alive,” earning her a Tony nomination. Recently, she stepped into the role of Narrator in the revival of “The Rocky Horror Show” at Studio 54. This performance has added another Tony nomination to her accolades.
Dratch said some acquaintances were surprised by her return to stage work, but theater has always been a part of her background. “That’s actually where I started out,” she commented, embracing her theatrical roots.
