Recently, Cole Hauser, star of Dutton Ranch, shared insights into the difficulties of filming in Texas during an appearance on “The Kelly Clarkson Show.” Joined by co-star Kelly Reilly, the 51-year-old actor revealed a major safety issue that once halted production.
“Eight months, 3,400 rattlesnakes,” Hauser informed Clarkson. The excessive rattlesnake presence in Fort Worth, Texas, is a noteworthy concern. Hauser recounted to Reilly about a specific filming location, explaining how the team was planning to leave the site at night but found numerous rattlesnakes, making departure impossible.
This isn’t the first time harsh filming conditions have affected Taylor Sheridan’s production crew. During the LA Times podcast “In Conversation: The Madison,” Michelle Pfeiffer discussed the tough circumstances at sites in Montana and Texas while working on Sheridan’s latest show, The Madison.
Pfeiffer, starring as Stacy Clyburn, described the rustic environment: “You may as well be in a tent; there is no bathroom,” referring to the absence of facilities in the vast filming sites. Even basic amenities like plumbed restrooms and air conditioning were lacking.
Due to the setup, Pfeiffer noted that scenes were shot without conventional trailers as the filming occurred at 360 degrees. “There’s no place to sit or nearby bathroom,” she said. The team faced cold winters and hot summers, inquiring for simple comforts like heaters and sun umbrellas.
These challenges highlight the demanding nature of filming in such rugged terrains where safety and comfort are often compromised.
