The Baltimore Ravens stirred the NFL offseason by planning to trade two first-round picks to the Las Vegas Raiders for star edge rusher Maxx Crosby. However, the deal collapsed after Crosby reportedly failed his medical examination. In response, the Ravens signed Pro Bowl defensive end Trey Hendrickson with a four-year contract worth $112 million. This move was seen by many as Baltimore’s attempt to recover from the failed trade.
Crosby’s trade request earlier in the offseason had set the stage for the aborted deal. Despite the collapse, sources say there is no tension between Crosby and the Raiders. NFL insider Jason La Canfora reported, “Crosby is working out on his own and not participating in the Raiders’ offseason practices, yet league sources confirm his commitment to recovery and his significant progress.” La Canfora added that Crosby told friends in the league about his determination to have a strong season, despite the public fallout from the failed trade with the Ravens.
Following Crosby’s desire to be traded, many expected the Raiders to consider another trade. However, it now appears Crosby will stay with the team. He is set to fulfill his four-year, $116 million contract, which includes an option to exit after the 2027 season. An anonymous NFL general manager told La Canfora, “He’s going to start the season there, and he’ll probably play his [expletive] off. They might get some calls before the deadline, but I don’t think he’s getting moved now. That ship has sailed.”
