San Antonio Spurs Push Oklahoma City Thunder to Game 7

1 week ago 0

The San Antonio Spurs have successfully forced a Game 7 against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA’s Western Conference finals. In Game 6, held on Thursday, May 28, the Spurs secured a decisive 118-91 win at home.

Initially, the Thunder breezed through their first two playoff series but faced challenges against a team they struggled with in the regular season. The Spurs outperformed the Thunder in four out of five encounters, including a 117-102 triumph on Christmas Day.

Victor Wembanyama led the Spurs with an impressive performance, achieving a double-double of 28 points and 10 rebounds in Game 6. He shot 10-for-21 from the field and made 4-of-9 attempts from beyond the arc in 28 minutes. “We played together and passed the ball,” Wembanyama remarked. “We trusted the game plan as always.”

The Spurs dominated the third quarter, outscoring the Thunder 32-13, which included a remarkable 20-0 scoring run. “I think we need to be consistent on defense,” Wembanyama commented. “Outscoring them 20-0 is not a realistic projection, but we want to be consistent.” His defensive efforts were significant, contributing three out of the team’s seven blocks.

Stephon Castle also excelled on defense against Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the Thunder’s two-time reigning MVP. Gilgeous-Alexander struggled, scoring only 15 points, hitting 6-of-18 from the field and missing all five 3-point attempts in 28 minutes. He shot 3-for-3 from the free-throw line. “A lot of the shots I’m shooting I’ve taken plenty of times before and felt good,” Gilgeous-Alexander explained. “They’re just not going in. It’s too late in the season to abandon my shooting style now.”

The Thunder will hold the home-court advantage, yet Gilgeous-Alexander recognizes the necessity of outplaying the Spurs. “We are a motivated group and accept the challenge ahead,” he stated. “Anything can happen in a Game 7. It’s win or go home. Playing in your building is nice, but it doesn’t really mean anything. You have to be the better basketball team.”

When do Thunder and Spurs play Game 7?
