The Pima County Sheriff’s Department announced on Thursday that they have not received any contact from Mexican authorities, although there have been reports of a search effort south of the border prompted by an anonymous tip concerning Nancy Guthrie.
Ramona Guadalupe Ayala Ortiz, who leads the organization Buscando Corazones Nogales in Sonora, Mexico, revealed that they had received a tip. The information suggested that a grave possibly belonging to Guthrie, aged 84, was discovered. The tipster indicated that a body matching Guthrie’s description could be located in the Mariposa area near Nogales, Sonora, as reported by 12 News. The organization Buscando Corazones Nogales focuses on finding missing persons in Mexico.
Sheriff warns that the suspect in Nancy Guthrie’s case may strike again and hints at possible motives.
A missing person poster for Nancy Guthrie was displayed near a border wall following reports of an anonymous tip that led to a search for her south of the border. In a statement on social media, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos acknowledged the reports but noted that they had not been contacted by Mexican authorities. He stated, “This investigation remains active and ongoing, and we will continue to follow up on any credible information.”
Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance was marked by a billboard in Phoenix, Arizona, on February 6, 2026. She has been missing since early February 2026. Guthrie disappeared from her residence in Tucson, Arizona. Authorities suspect abduction but have no evidence suggesting she was taken across the border.
Doorbell camera footage captured a masked individual wearing gloves on Guthrie’s doorstep around the time of her suspected abduction. Additionally, video from three weeks earlier showed a masked person approaching the home. A split image depicts Sheriff Chris Nanos speaking about Guthrie’s suspected abduction alongside a photo of her playing mahjong.
Upon police arrival, Guthrie’s back door was found propped open, raising questions about the involvement of multiple individuals. Though supposed ransom notes were sent to TMZ and local media, no arrests have been made in connection with the case.
