Sen. Fetterman Opposes Support for Maine Candidate Platner

1 week ago 0

Senator John Fetterman from Pennsylvania has taken a stance against supporting Graham Platner, a Democratic Senate candidate from Maine. Platner is a rising figure in the political arena, known for his populist approach and outsider status as he vies for a Republican-controlled seat. However, his campaign has been marred by controversy, including explicit online interactions, offensive posts, a Nazi-linked tattoo controversy, and internal campaign issues.

Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner has promoted economic policies focused on taxing the wealthy and reducing costs for working-class Americans.

Platner, who is both a Marine veteran and an oyster farmer, continues to defend himself amidst criticism and retains backing from prominent Democrats like Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, Senator Bernie Sanders, and Senator Elizabeth Warren. Despite this, Senator Fetterman clarified he will not align himself with Platner’s defenders.

Fetterman remarked to Fox News Digital, “I really would encourage ‘P Hustle’ to answer basic questions,” referencing Platner’s previous online pseudonym on platforms such as Reddit and Kik. He points to Platner’s extensive use of Kik, a messaging app criticized for its anonymous features, and explicit images allegedly shared by Platner.

Fetterman questioned Platner’s safeguards while on Kik, expressing concerns about whether he ensured interactions were appropriate. Fetterman stated, “What was your safeguards to make sure that you weren’t interacting with underage people? Everyone was adults.” He suggested the choice is ultimately for Maine voters but emphasized serious concerns about Platner’s judgment and ethics.

The Marine veteran and oyster farmer has defended himself against criticism and maintained the support of well-known Democrats.

When responding to allegations from former partners, Fetterman noted the abundance of controversies encircling Platner, stating, “You know, candidates have baggage. In his case, he is baggage that incidentally might be a candidate.”

Fetterman concluded by stating, “I’ll be the one Democrat to refuse to defend that mess.”
