The final set continued in the same vein, with Cerúndolo succeeding in absorbing Sinner’s attacks. Sinner, unable to sustain the necessary energy for a comeback, watched Cerúndolo take a 4-0 lead. After saving break points to reach 5-1, the outcome became apparent. The once-promising Grand Slam title slipped away.

As the 2026 French Open progresses, the men’s draw appears more open than in years. Sinner, considered a favorite following the exit of two-time champion Carlos Alcaraz, must now confront the impact of extreme weather on his career ambitions.
