Stephen A. Smith Criticizes Jill Biden’s Debate Memoir

Sports commentator Stephen A. Smith voiced his critique of former first lady Jill Biden on his podcast, ‘Straight Shooter.’ Smith expressed his concern over Jill Biden’s recent public statements, suggesting they weaken the Democratic Party’s image.

In her promotional interviews for the memoir ‘View From the East Wing,’ Jill Biden recounted an incident during a 2024 debate between then-President Joe Biden and President Donald Trump. She admitted to initially fearing Joe Biden was having a stroke during his performance.

Smith stated.

He criticized how Jill Biden initially praised her husband’s debate performance, describing her later admission as ill-timed. Smith argued that such revelations harm the Democrats ahead of important elections.

Smith emphasized the adverse effect of this admission on upcoming gubernatorial and mayoral races, as well as the midterm elections. He warned that such statements instill confidence in Republicans, even in traditionally Democratic states like California.

The commentator rejected claims of being anti-Democrat, insisting his remarks aimed to strengthen the party. “I’m trying to tell you how to win, and how to avoid losing,” he asserted.

Jill Biden had publicly commended Joe Biden post-debate, although her memoir revealed they both recognized his poor performance at the time. Her acknowledgments came amid a broader media critique of his debate presence.
