U.S. intelligence agencies are concerned about the impact of Israeli military actions in Lebanon on ongoing peace negotiations between the United States and Iran. The relationship between Israel and the Trump administration is strained, adding complexity to the situation.
A mother and her son were seen near a home destroyed by recent Israeli airstrikes in Qlaileh, a village in southern Lebanon. The area has seen residents flee and return, only to evacuate once more due to the threat of violence. Marwan Naamani of ZUMA Press Wire captured the scene on Friday.
This instability in Lebanon could undermine a tentative peace deal between the U.S. and Iran, which has largely excluded Israel from its discussions. U.S. spy agencies believe continued Israeli attacks on Hezbollah in Lebanon could negatively affect these talks.
Tensions in the region remain high as diplomatic efforts continue to find a resolution.
