Morgan Wallen has emerged as a prominent figure in country music, known for hits such as “865,” “Sand in My Boots,” and “Whisky Glasses.” Born on May 13, 1993, in Sneedville, Tennessee, Wallen was raised by his parents, Tommy and Lesli Wallen, in a musical household. He began singing in church and took piano and violin lessons during his childhood.
Before achieving fame, Wallen appeared on “The Voice” in 2014 at the age of 20. His rendition of “Collide” by Howie Day showcased his unique, raspy voice, gaining him significant attention on the show. Although he did not win, this exposure helped propel his career forward.
The year 2020 was significant for Wallen, marked by both personal and professional challenges. He became a father when his son, Indigo Wilder, was born in Nashville, Tennessee. Indigo’s mother is Wallen’s former partner, KT Smith. However, Wallen also faced controversy after a video captured him using the N-word, sparking intense public scrutiny.
In 2021, Wallen released his second album, “Dangerous: The Double Album,” which included tracks like “More Than My Hometown,” “Sand In My Boots,” and “865.” This album achieved a historic milestone by spending 10 weeks at the top of the Billboard chart, a feat not accomplished since 1987. It was the best-selling album of 2021, moving 3 million copies. The album received the Academy of Country Music Award for Album of the Year and Top Country Album at the Billboard Music Awards.
Wallen embarked on a tour for “Dangerous: The Double Album” in 2022, performing in 46 cities across the United States over eight months. During the tour, Wallen also offered a range of merchandise featuring lyrics from his popular songs.
In addition to his album and tour, Wallen released the single “Broadway Girls” with Lil Durk in 2022. He also collaborated on the Ernest song “Flower Shops,” further cementing his presence in the country music scene.
