Late Wednesday night, a police helicopter tragically crashed in Flagstaff, Arizona, leading to the deaths of the pilot and a trooper-paramedic on board. The helicopter was part of the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) fleet and was actively engaged in providing tactical air support to the Flagstaff Police Department and other local law enforcement agencies.
Sgt. Kameron Lee, a spokesperson for AZDPS, confirmed the involvement of their Ranger helicopter. Unfortunately, details about the identities of the deceased have not been disclosed yet.
Prior to the crash, law enforcement officers on the ground were involved in an active shooter situation and engaged in gunfire exchanges with the suspect.
