Brandon Clarke, a forward for the Memphis Grizzlies, has passed away at 29. His fiancée, Amber Lorraine, publicly paid tribute to him over the weekend following the announcement of his death.
The Associated Press reported that Clarke was found deceased at his home near Los Angeles. The presence of drug paraphernalia was noted at the scene, and first responders declared him dead on Monday.
Amber Lorraine, deeply mourning Clarke’s death, shared heartfelt memories on Instagram. She described Clarke as “the most special person” with a profound impact on her life, expressing disbelief and sorrow over living without him. She noted that they had been planning to marry soon, and she cherished the day he proposed as the “happiest day” of her life.
“This world isn’t the same without you,” Lorraine expressed.
The Memphis Grizzlies issued a statement expressing their grief over Clarke’s death. Clarke had been with the team for seven seasons, making a lasting impact both on and off the court.
“We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of Brandon Clarke,” the team stated. They emphasized his abilities as a teammate and his influence within the Memphis community, offering condolences to his family and loved ones.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver also conveyed his condolences, acknowledging Clarke as one of the Grizzlies’ longest-serving and most passionate players. Silver extended sympathies to Clarke’s family, friends, and the Grizzlies organization.
Earlier this April, Clarke faced legal issues when he was arrested in Arkansas on several charges, including possession of a controlled substance and other traffic violations. These matters were still ongoing as he was due in court last week.
