U.S. Warns Iran Against Unprofessional Conduct in Middle East Amid Naval Exercises

The United States military has issued a warning to Iran, stating it will not accept any “unsafe and unprofessional behavior” involving U.S. forces in the Middle East. This caution arises as Iran prepares for live-fire naval exercises in the strategic Strait of Hormuz. According to the U.S. Central Command, these exercises, led by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), are scheduled to commence on Sunday and will span two days.

President Donald Trump revealed that a substantial naval fleet, spearheaded by the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier, is en route to the region. In a statement, CENTCOM recognized Iran’s right to operate within international waters and airspace but made clear that any dangerous or reckless actions near U.S. forces, regional allies, or commercial ships could lead to accidents and heightened tensions.

“CENTCOM will ensure the safety of U.S. personnel, ships, and aircraft operating in the Middle East. We will not tolerate unsafe IRGC actions, including overflight of U.S. military vessels engaged in flight operations, low-altitude or armed overflight of U.S. military assets when intentions are unclear, high-speed boat approaches on a collision course with U.S. military vessels, or weapons trained at U.S. forces,” the statement elaborated.

The U.S. has highlighted the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz, an essential maritime route that facilitates global trade and supports regional economic growth. On average, about 100 merchant ships navigate this narrow passage each day.

In related developments, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, addressing a recent Cabinet meeting, emphasized that the Department of War is poised to fulfill any directives from President Trump concerning Iran’s nuclear activities. Hegseth underlined that the U.S. military possesses the world’s most skilled and powerful forces and will continue to conduct operations adhering to international standards, urging Iran’s IRGC to act in a similar manner.

President Trump has also issued a direct message to Iran, cautioning that “time is running out” to reach an agreement. This underscores the urgency of the situation as diplomatic tensions continue to escalate.
