4 months ago 0

WWE legend Fred Ottman, famously known as Typhoon, recently shed light on a serious health ordeal that led to a prolonged hospital stay. Last month, Ottman found himself in the hospital for approximately 30 days. On Sunday, he shared updates with his fans, family, and loved ones, reassuring them that he is recovering, although his journey to full health is ongoing.

“Unfortunately, my gallbladder exploded inside of me and it released a bunch of poison into my body,” Ottman explained. “So, I’ve been on my back for 30 days. The doctors have been amazing – my surgeons and that stuff. I had a major infection along with some of the stuff I’ve been dealing with. As far as infection goes, if I would’ve waited one more day, the doctors told my wife that I probably wouldn’t be here with you or be able to talk to you guys. God bless.”

Despite these challenges, Ottman remains resilient. He expressed gratitude for the medical team, praising their efforts during his treatment. The illness has resulted in significant muscle loss, requiring him to relearn how to walk.

In light of his ordeal, former wrestling stars, including members from the tag team Demolition and Bryan Clark, expressed their support for Ottman on social media platforms such as Instagram.

Fred Ottman’s wrestling journey began in 1985, making his mark as Sigfried for Championship Wrestling in Georgia. He appeared in multiple wrestling circuits before entering the World Wrestling Federation (now WWE) as Tugboat in 1989. Under the moniker Typhoon in 1991, he joined forces with Earthquake to form the tag team ‘The Natural Disasters.’

Ottman also made appearances in World Championship Wrestling as The Shockmaster during the early 1990s. His wrestling career extended into another stint with the WWF, culminating with participation in the 20-man battle royal at WrestleMania 17.

In 2022, Fred Ottman was honored with induction into the WWE Hall of Fame alongside his tag team partner, Earthquake.
