The U.S. Coast Guard seized an 8-foot dinghy as they investigate the disappearance of Lynette Hooker in the Bahamas. This action took place on Thursday.
Lynette Hooker, a Michigan resident, vanished in early April. Her husband, Brian Hooker, reported the incident. He claims they were on a nighttime ride near Elbow Cay when she fell overboard due to rough waters. He returned to shore by paddling after she was taken by the current with the boat keys.
CBS News documented investigators from the Coast Guard examining the dinghy. The team included a Coast Guard Investigative Service officer and a cadaver dog. They aimed to gather evidence that might reveal what occurred the night Lynette disappeared.
Authorities recently seized the couple’s sailboat, used during their Bahamas tour. GPS data from an electronic device contrasts Brian Hooker’s version of events, prompting further searches.
Brian Hooker was briefly held by Bahamian authorities but released after five days. He returned to the U.S. without charges and refutes any allegations of involvement in the incident.
Lynette Hooker remains missing as investigations continue both in the Bahamas and the U.S.
