Calder played 590 regular season games from 1999 to 2010, earning 114 goals and 294 points during his time with the Chicago Blackhawks, Philadelphia Flyers, Detroit Red Wings, Los Angeles Kings, and Anaheim Ducks.
News of Calder’s death led to an outpouring of tributes. His former teammate Daniel Carcillo commented on Instagram, expressing that Calder’s warm and loving spirit impacted many, including himself.
The Wirtz family and the Chicago Blackhawks organization expressed deep sorrow over Calder’s passing. They extended their thoughts and prayers to his family.
The Ducks released a statement saying they were heartbroken, highlighting Calder as a great man and valued teammate. They offered deepest sympathies to his loved ones.
The Kings also mourned Calder’s passing, acknowledging him as an accomplished player and team leader. They emphasized his role in supporting youth hockey in Southern California.
Patrick O’Neal, a former Kings broadcaster, described Calder as a person embodying everything admirable about hockey players. O’Neal shared his sadness and sent prayers to Calder’s family.
Former Ducks defenseman Chris Pronger expressed his condolences on X, noting that the hockey community has lost exceptional people this year. Pronger remembered Calder as a great teammate and friend.
