Hillary Clinton Comments on Maine Democratic Senate Candidate Graham Platner

2 hours ago 0

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton recently addressed questions regarding her support for Maine Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner. When asked about her stance at a 92NY event, Clinton refrained from giving a direct endorsement. “I feel about him the way I feel about any candidate,” she remarked, expressing a desire to see what kind of candidate Platner would prove to be.

Clinton appeared to minimize the impact of Platner’s recent scandals, referring to them as “bumps on the road” for his character. She acknowledged these controversies during a conversation with The New Yorker editor David Remnick, who questioned her choice of words. Clinton responded, “Yeah, clearly bumps on the road in terms of his prior behavior, some of his prior statements.” She further mentioned that running against incumbent Senator Susan Collins would be challenging, describing it as a “tough election.” Therefore, she is reserving judgment.

When asked whom she would support, Clinton joked, “I’m not a Mainer. I’m a New Yorker,” shifting the discussion to emphasize the Democratic Party’s need to regain control of the House of Representatives in 2026. Fox News Digital reached out to Platner’s campaign for comment.

Platner has faced numerous controversies since the start of his campaign. These include sexually explicit messages to women, offensive social media posts, a controversial tattoo linked to Nazi imagery, and campaign staff issues. A recent New York Times report added new allegations, suggesting violent episodes and questionable conduct with former partners.

Despite these continuous scandals, several Democratic figures have chosen to support Platner’s campaign. Meanwhile, others have refrained from explicitly distancing themselves from him.
