ABU DHABI — Secretary of State Marco Rubio plans to visit the Middle East this week, engaging in talks with Arab Gulf allies. This assignment carries significant diplomatic weight for Rubio, known for his strong stance on Iran. Until now, Vice President JD Vance has primarily handled public discussions about the ceasefire agreement with Tehran.

As the Trump administration worked on maintaining the delicate ceasefire, Rubio has remained mostly out of the public eye regarding this issue. However, his upcoming trip suggests a potential shift in his involvement. This visit comes on the heels of the recent Group of Seven summit in France, where Secretary Rubio was present.
