Retired four-star General Jack Keane recently suggested that the United States should consider taking military action against Iran, asserting that the regime is vulnerabilities. Keane argues that Iran continues to be dishonest about its nuclear objectives, despite President Donald Trump’s openness to negotiating a new deal.
“We’re realizing that military intervention may be the most effective solution here,” Keane commented during an appearance on “Fox & Friends Weekend.” According to Keane, President Trump sees a unique opportunity to potentially shift the political dynamics in the Middle East, paving the way for lasting peace and establishing a significant legacy.

Keane, a senior strategic analyst for Fox News, recognized Trump’s consistent pattern of using diplomatic channels for achieving his goals, yet still favored a military approach towards Iran. He emphasized that any potential deal with Iran would inevitably lead to requests for sanction relief.
Keane expressed skepticism about any agreement that might prolong the current Iranian regime, labeling it as politically, economically, and militarily fragile at present. He maintains that a deal, even with U.S.-favorable terms, would not benefit America, the regional stability, or the Iranian populace.
Iran’s destabilizing influence in the Middle East extends through its proxies, attacking Israel and oppressing its citizens while perpetuating deception about its nuclear agenda,
Keane stated. He pointed out that Iran’s claim of pursuing civil nuclear energy is misleading, as their single nuclear plant contributes less than 1% to their national electric grid.

The remarks align with the recent visit by U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff, Trump’s advisor Jared Kushner, and Admiral Brad Cooper from U.S. Central Command to the USS Abraham Lincoln while it was deployed in the Arabian Sea. Their visit took place shortly after nuclear discussions between the U.S. and Iran in Oman, which were attended by Witkoff and Kushner. President Trump described these consultations as “very good.”
“Iran appears eager to negotiate a deal,” Trump disclosed to reporters aboard Air Force One, en route to Mar-a-Lago. He clarified that any agreement with Iran must include a commitment to the complete abandonment of nuclear weapons aspirations.
