As the search progressed without success, the teams broadened their efforts to include a nearby pond in Mayfield Park, close to Nathan’s residence. On Friday at around 11:53 a.m., divers from the Cherokee County Fire Department recovered a body they believe to be Nathan Smith, from the pond. However, official confirmation is still pending from the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The Milton Police Department emphasized that while there appears to be no signs of foul play at this time, their criminal investigations division will keep this as an active investigation. They noted that specific details won’t be disclosed until the medical examiner determines the official cause and manner of death, and all investigative leads are thoroughly reviewed.

The department extended their heartfelt condolences to the Smith family and respectfully requested privacy for them during this challenging period.
