2 weeks ago 0

The first night of the Tecate Emblema Festival in Mexico City featured performances by the Jonas Brothers, Louis Tomlinson, and Cazzu. Other acts included RuPaul, LP, and Lost Frequencies.

Jonas Brothers Return to Mexico City

Fans of the Jonas Brothers showed up early, wearing their band merchandise. Excitement peaked when Joe, Nick, and Kevin appeared on stage, delivering hits such as “Love Me to Heaven”, “Only Human”, “S.O.S.”, “Sucker”, and “What a Man Gotta Do”. During an interactive segment, they took fan requests and chose to play “Video Girl” after a fun Q&A game involving Colombian and Mexican soap operas.

Their return marked four years since their last concert in Mexico City, following the cancellation of their 2024 show due to health issues. They had performed at the Feria de las Fresas in Guanajuato in 2025.

Cazzu’s Diverse Performance

Argentinian artist Cazzu was thrilled to share the stage with the Jonas Brothers, having been a fan since her teenage years. Her performance featured a mix of Argentine folk music with malambists from the Ballet de Atahualpa Yupanqui, tracks from her latest album “Latinaje”, and early trap releases. She also included a cumbia cover of Selena Quintanilla’s “Si una vez” and Mexican corridos like “Perdón si no te llamé” and “Dolce”.

Cazzu expressed gratitude for returning to perform in Mexico after a long absence, noting the warmth of the country’s audience.

Louis Tomlinson’s Anticipated Appearance

Louis Tomlinson, a former One Direction member, had not played in Mexico City since 2020. His previous tour stop was Guadalajara’s Arena VFG in 2024. His set featured songs like “Lazy”, “Sunflowers”, and “Imposter”. He expressed deep gratitude towards his fans, emphasizing the strong passion and love he felt from the Mexican audience.

Technical Challenges

An intense rainstorm delayed Cazzu’s performance slightly. Technicians worked quickly to remove water from the stage. Cazzu also experienced issues with her ear monitor that required adjustments during the show.

Louis Tomlinson faced brief technical difficulties, while LP’s set was delayed by half an hour due to instrument setup issues. Despite the wait, fans remained patient for the New York rock musician, who performed songs such as “When We’re High”, “Girls Go Wild”, “One Like You”, and “The One That You Love”.

RuPaul and Dance Favorites

RuPaul performed a set as a DJ, choosing to forgo his drag attire. Clad in a lime green suit and a t-shirt with the message “Stop that train!”, RuPaul’s set included 90s dance hits like Snap!’s “Rhythm Is a Dancer” and Robin S’s “Show Me Love”, along with disco tunes.

Hercules and Love Affair, featuring dancers and Icelandic singer Elín Ey, performed amidst heavy rain. The audience continued to dance and celebrate despite the weather.

Closing with Lost Frequencies

Belgian DJ and producer Lost Frequencies concluded the event with an electrifying mix of pop, house, and techno, featuring tracks such as “Are You With Me”, “Dance In The Sunlight”, and “Where Are You Now”.

The festival continued on Sunday with performances from Sech, Gloria Trevi, Kenia Os, NSQK, and Paris Hilton as a DJ.
