Fitness Influencer Hosts Pushup and Plank Competition in NYC

2 weeks ago 0

Fitness influencer Mark Langowski, known online as @bodybymark, recently led a pushup and plank competition in New York City. He encouraged participants to be active and motivated others through his meet-up, held in partnership with Oikos yogurt.

Langowski, who has nearly two million Instagram followers, invited people to share their exercise routines. At Washington Square Park on May 12, he connected with fitness enthusiasts. The event rewarded both a male and a female winner, with each receiving $500 for excelling in pushups and planks.

“It’s a way to encourage strength and overall fitness in New York City and across the country,” Langowski noted in an interview.

He highlighted that strength, humility, and confidence are key qualities in competitors. Competitors were tested with activities like pushups and planks, which Langowski considers vital indicators of fitness levels alongside pull-ups, squats, and endurance challenges. These exercises form the basics used in school fitness assessments.

Langowski provided tips for beginners wanting to improve their fitness. He suggested seeking guidance from trainers to help progress gradually. Beginning with pushups on knees or against a wall can lead to mastering standard pushups.

Langowski emphasized the importance of gradual progression, stating, “You’ll be surprised after consistent practice over time, you can achieve a lot. Results come with dedication.” Resting the body and maintaining a healthy diet, particularly protein intake, are also crucial for muscle growth.

Motivation is key to getting in shape. For those less inclined to start, Langowski proposed beginning with simple activities like walking around the block, which require no gym membership.

“You don’t need an expensive gym membership. Many people exercise in their living rooms with basic movements like squats and lunges,” he commented.

Langowski advised people to start their fitness journey and seek support from friends or trainers for better results.
