On Tuesday, North Korea fired various projectiles, including short-range missiles, towards its western seas. This information comes from the South Korean military.
The missiles were launched around 1 p.m. local time from Chongju, located in North Pyongan province. They traveled roughly 50 miles before landing in the Yellow Sea, according to the Joint Chiefs of Staff in Seoul.
Missile Details: The fired short-range missiles can reach approximately 185 miles. Additionally, artillery munitions were also fired by North Korean forces.
South Korea is collaborating with U.S. analysts to analyze the launch details. The nation’s military has heightened surveillance and monitoring to prepare for potential further launches, sharing information closely with the United States and Japan while maintaining a full readiness posture.
We have increased vigilance and are coordinating with global partners to assess and respond to the situation.
This marks North Korea’s first launch since April 19, when it test-fired short-range ballistic missiles in the Sea of Japan, known as the East Sea by both Koreas. Similarly, the Yellow Sea is referred to as the West Sea.
