Commencement Ceremony

On May 22, 2026, nearly 1,200 graduates from Adlai E. Stevenson High School’s Class of 2026 celebrated their graduation at NOW Arena in Hoffman Estates. The event was marked by philanthropic achievements and the essence of Stevenson Patriot spirit, as emphasized by Eric Twadell, superintendent of the High School District 125 in Lincolnshire.

“You didn’t just grow, you gave. And you gave generously,” said Twadell.

Mortarboard caps soared in the air as the ceremony concluded, echoing the pride felt by the community and the graduates.

Philanthropy and Leadership

The graduating class was recognized for significant fundraising efforts, amassing over $100,000 for varied causes, both locally and globally. Twadell praised them for embodying the portrait of a graduate not only in skill but in spirit.

During the ceremony, two seniors addressed their classmates. Nisa Rao of Riverwoods delivered the Scriptor Address, acknowledging the selflessness prevalent within their school community.

“There was a constant in our school, the selfless individuals that contribute to our community,” said Rao.

Sanchi Deshpande of Lincolnshire presented the Gubernator Address, urging classmates to appreciate the journey instead of simply its conclusion.

“We live the journey because if we knew the ending, it wouldn’t be worth a watch,” Deshpande stated.

Celebrating Achievements

Among the graduates was Joie Goldstein of Buffalo Grove, reflecting on her identity as a Patriot now and into the future.

Parents shared emotional moments with their graduating children. Karthik Pushparaj brought flowers for his son, Aditya Karthik, expressing hopes for his future success. Jam and Maru Torres, parents of Abigail “Aye Jay” Julianne Torres, proudly held signage celebrating their daughter. Aye Jay acknowledged her family and expressed gratitude for their support.

“I’m so, so proud of her,” Jam Torres commented, beaming at his daughter’s accomplishments.

Aye Jay, seated amongst fellow graduates with her decorated mortarboard, thanked her family for their sacrifices leading to her success.
