Christian Pulisic showcased his scoring ability as he evaded Senegal’s goalkeeper, guiding his shot into the net. The U.S. men’s national team (USMNT) star then celebrated with a passionate scream, energizing the crowd at Charlotte, North Carolina’s Bank of America Stadium. This marked his first goal of 2026, signaling his return to form after a previous achievement with AC Milan. His last goal for the U.S. had been against Jamaica in 2024 during the CONCACAF Nations League quarterfinal.
Referred to as “Captain America,” Pulisic expressed both a release of pressure and excitement at being in the U.S. with a pivotal chance ahead. He emphasized the surreal feeling of scoring while surrounded by his teammates and the American crowd.
“Scoring again and being back here is incredible,” Pulisic shared, highlighting his partnership with Hershey’s, a brand he feels connected to due to his upbringing in Hershey, Pennsylvania. “Having my teammates around made it incredibly special. This was all about letting out those emotions.”
In the friendly match against Senegal, Pulisic created a buzz by assisting Sergiño Dest within the first seven minutes. This outstanding start encouraged the USMNT, motivating them through the supporters’ energy. “The fan support in Charlotte is fantastic and drives us on the field,” he noted.
Pulisic acknowledged the intense pressure of playing on home soil for the World Cup. The team aims for strong results, and Pulisic embraces the responsibility. “Every player faces pressure in the World Cup. We’re grateful for this chance and ready to compete. It’s essential that we work together as a team.”
The team’s preparation includes focused training, solidifying chemistry among players over time. Winning a friendly is motivating, but the key objective remains the World Cup match against Paraguay on June 12. “We’re preparing for when it truly counts,” Pulisic said.
Pulisic holds a special place in U.S. soccer and remains proud of his Hershey roots. His collaboration with Hershey’s is a personal milestone. Hershey’s is launching limited edition PULISIC’S Milk Chocolate Bars, which include wrappers signed by Pulisic.
“It’s amazing; growing up in Hershey, surrounded by its chocolate, and now seeing my name on it. It feels like a dream,” Pulisic expressed, recalling childhood memories.
The bars will be available starting June 6. The first 5,000 visitors at Hershey’s Chocolate World in Pennsylvania will receive a complimentary bar, as will the first 3,000 in New York’s Times Square.
