Attending a Major League Baseball game requires constant awareness. Unfortunately, a fan named Jamie Golla learned this the hard way during the Mariners’ game against the San Diego Padres at T-Mobile Park in Seattle.
Golla and a friend were enjoying the game from the lower bowl along the third-base side. While filming a selfie video, San Diego’s Sung-mun Song stepped up to bat in the fifth inning. Suddenly, a foul ball struck Golla on the head, captured on her friend’s video.
The impact was immediate and severe. Unlike typical fly balls, this one caused concern among spectators due to its speed and trajectory. Attendees at such events often brace for potential injuries, but Golla was the unfortunate recipient.
Following the accident, Golla received treatment at Harborview Medical Center. She reported minor headaches and swelling but is doing better. “I appreciate everyone checking on me,” Golla told the New York Post.
The Mariners staff showed support by offering Golla and her friends tickets to a future game. This gesture followed the incident where the Mariners lost to the Padres 2-0.
