Israel Escalates Campaign Against Hezbollah in Lebanon

1 week ago 0

In a significant escalation, Israel intensified strikes against Hezbollah across Lebanon. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered an increase in military actions against the Iran-backed group.

The Israeli military announced over 100 targets were hit overnight in the southern and eastern regions of Lebanon. These targets included key Hezbollah sites such as weapons storage and command centers. An evacuation warning was issued for Nabatieh, a major city in southern Lebanon, indicating impending airstrikes.

The strikes affected areas including Mashghara in the Bekaa Valley, resulting in at least 11 fatalities, according to Lebanon’s health ministry. This number included two children. The Israeli military has not commented on this specific strike.

“We are at war with Hezbollah,” Netanyahu stated in a video message. He emphasized the need for increased military pressure.

The conflict reignited in March following rocket attacks from Hezbollah into Israeli territory. These attacks were in support of Iran amid a U.S.-Israeli offensive. Although a U.S.-brokered ceasefire was implemented in April, both parties have continued to exchange fire, each accusing the other of truce violations.

The escalation comes at a delicate moment as discussions between the U.S., Israeli, and Iranian officials hint at possible progress toward resolving conflicts related to the U.S.-Israeli war with Iran.
