Republicans appear to hold an advantage in the contest for a vacant House seat in Maine, with voting set to occur on Tuesday. Rep. Jared Golden (D-Maine) is vacating his position in the 2nd Congressional District. Democrats are competing fiercely for a chance to appear on the November ballot. According to the Cook Political Report, the race is trending in the GOP’s favor.

Former Governor Paul LePage, endorsed by President Trump, stands as the presumptive Republican nominee. Meanwhile, on the Democratic side, State Senator Joe Baldacci, State Auditor Matthew Dunlap, and Jordan Wood, a former chief of staff to Rep. Katie Porter, are in the running for the nomination.

Chellie Pingree, another Democrat, is pursuing reelection in the 1st Congressional District. The polls are scheduled to close at 8 p.m., with live results available from Decision Desk HQ.
