Spencer Pratt Claims to Have Damaging Recordings
Spencer Pratt, known for his reality television background, has intensively raised stakes in Los Angeles politics. Following his defeat in the city’s mayoral primary, he claims to have audio recordings that could lead to the resignation of Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass or City Councilmember Nithya Raman. Pratt disclosed this in a video posted to social media, alleging that the recordings contain incriminating content. Despite his assertions, Pratt has not provided specifics or evidence to back his claims.
“I was saving it for the general election,” Pratt stated. “Go ahead and pick your demon, certify your choice, and then you get to see it.”
Newsweek has reached out to the offices of Bass and Raman for comment.
Pratt Declares ‘War’ on Political Rivals
Pratt’s independent candidacy emerged surprisingly during the mayoral race. He was unable to advance past the June 2 primary, which saw the top two candidates progressing to the general election. Bass secured her place early, winning 34.3% of the vote. Raman followed with 29%, edging out Pratt’s 25.5%. In his latest video, Pratt stated his plans to escalate conflict, now freed from campaign regulations.
“It’s war,” he declared, adding that he no longer fears offending anyone or being restricted by campaign rules.
Pratt has warned the Democratic candidates of potential legal scrutiny, suggesting that authorities might soon investigate them.
Pratt’s Political Campaign and Challenges
During his campaign, Pratt aimed to challenge the existing political framework of Los Angeles. His entry into the race followed personal hardship, having lost his home in the 2025 wildfires. He marketed himself as a political outsider ready to dismantle what he called a flawed establishment. His campaign gained traction through social media and high-profile endorsements.
Pratt’s campaign addressed critical issues like homelessness, crime, and public safety. He frequently criticized Bass for her handling of the city’s issues and used the slogan “Enough is enough” to resonate with disenchanted voters. Concurrently, Raman campaigned on progressive policies, focusing on affordable housing and city service improvements. Despite Pratt’s unsuccessful bid, his campaign highlighted voter dissatisfaction with the current leadership.
Pratt’s Ongoing Political Aspirations
Even after not advancing in the election, Pratt remains committed to his political ambitions. In his latest message, he announced that his objectives remain unchanged. Pratt continues to position himself as an adversary to what he considers a corrupt system, bearing loyalty among frustrated constituents.
“I didn’t get in this for political power,” he stated. “My goal hasn’t changed. I’ve been laser-focused on stopping these commie animals, and I will stop them.”
Pratt believes the city faces dire consequences under current leadership and aims to prevent ongoing challenges he associates with the current administration.
