A man lost his life in a drowning incident in Fort Lauderdale early Sunday morning, June 7, 2026. Authorities received a call shortly after 5 a.m., reporting a possible drowning off the 200 block of Southwest Second Avenue. Witnesses observed the man entering the water.
Fort Lauderdale police collaborated with Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue and the Broward Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit to conduct a search. They located the man, who was then transported to Broward Health Medical Center by Fire Rescue. Unfortunately, he passed away at the hospital.
The incident is under investigation by the Fort Lauderdale Police Department’s Homicide Unit.
