On a Saturday morning in Brooklyn, supporters gathered at FancyFree, a popular sports bar in Fort Greene. The air buzzed with excitement as Arsenal fans filled the venue, eagerly anticipating the Champions League final.

Flags emblazoned with Arsenal’s emblem waved outside, accompanied by chants of ‘Arsenal! Arsenal!’ resonating through the neighborhood. The anticipation heightened as the kickoff approached.

Fans erupted in cheers not for a moment on screen, but for the arrival of Mayor Zohran Mamdani. Entering through a side entrance, he was greeted enthusiastically, sporting a blue-and-red Arsenal jersey over his formal attire.

Spike Lee, a notable Arsenal enthusiast, awaited the mayor with a welcoming embrace. Together with the crowd, they settled in for what promised to be a defining match. The stakes were high since it was the Champions League final, and Arsenal had recently clinched the Premier League title.

Supporters flock to FancyFree regularly, drawn from all over the city. For the mayor, attending the match was a priority despite his usually packed schedule of policy and budget responsibilities.

As chants filled the bar, Mayor Mamdani joined in, clapping along to the music. He was flanked by security and surrounded by friends, both long-standing and new, including Mr. Lee.
