President Trump’s Rising Approval Among Hispanic Americans

1 hour ago 0

President Donald Trump’s approval rating among Hispanic Americans has increased to 37 percent, as indicated by a poll conducted by The Economist/YouGov. This marks an improvement among the demographic, with the latest numbers showing Trump’s highest approval since early last month, when a similar poll recorded his approval at 40 percent.

Latino voters played a crucial role in Trump’s triumph in the 2024 election. Although Democrats continued to secure the majority of Hispanic votes across the nation, Trump made significant strides with Hispanics compared to previous Republican nominees. Due to these shifts, Trump’s relationship with Hispanic Americans is closely monitored by both political parties. The latest poll suggests a positive trend for Trump, regaining support from this pivotal group in his return to the White House.

The Economist/YouGov poll reveals Trump’s approval rating among Hispanics at 37 percent, contrasted by a disapproval rating of 59 percent. Overall, Trump’s approval stands at 39 percent, with 56 percent disapproval. The survey, conducted June 13-15, included 1,549 U.S. adults and had a margin of error of 3.5 percent.

White House Commentary

White House Spokeswoman Allison Schuster stated, “President Trump was honored to receive a record level of support from Hispanic Americans that helped fuel his landslide 2024 election victory. He’s been working every day since his inauguration to improve life for them and all Americans.”

Schuster highlighted Trump’s achievements, such as passing substantial middle-class tax cuts, eliminating tax on tips, overtime, and Social Security. She noted, “Hardworking Hispanic Americans are finding relief after enduring economic difficulties under the Democrats. There’s more to be done, and President Trump, alongside Republicans in Congress, will continue striving to make life more affordable for working families.”

Historical Polling Trends

During Trump’s second term, polling suggested a decline in Hispanic support amidst aggressive immigration policies and varied economic signals. According to Florida State University political science professor Andrew Ballard, white voters remain crucial for Republican electoral strategies despite Hispanic contributions to Trump’s success. He emphasized the overlap between various voter groups, including Hispanics.
