Rodent Infestation Halts Food Delivery at Coral Springs Store

4 days ago 0

Food delivery services at a Coral Springs convenience store were disrupted last week due to rodent infestations. This issue followed a previous shutdown of coffee and soda stations at the store three weeks prior.

Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services inspector Timothy O’Neil conducted an inspection at the Citgo Food Mart, located at 10380 Royal Palm Rd, on Wednesday. He warned that if rodent issues persisted in future inspections, a Stop Sale Order on all food products would be implemented.

The store, owned by Stores Management, LLC, with officers Alloudin Bhullar and Nawshad Chowdhury, failed to address the issues noted in the May 14 inspection. At that time, Inspector O’Neil reported over 100 fresh rodent droppings under the frozen soda machine, soda machine, coffee bar, and throughout the processing room.

Additional rodent evidence included droppings found in cabinets under the coffee bar and next to single-use lids, as well as droppings in boxes of single-use cups stored on a shelf near the ceiling.

Resulting from these findings, several Stop Use Orders were enacted on open food processing areas, including the hot foods case, hot food rollers, three-compartment sink, frozen soda dispenser, coffee bar, soda machine, and cold coffee machine.

“If evidence of pest infestation is observed on the next inspection, a Stop Use Order will be issued on all receiving areas of the establishment. The establishment will no longer be allowed to receive additional food items,” the inspector warned.

During the June 3 inspection, a dead rodent was discovered in a trap under the three-compartment sink in the backroom. Fresh rodent droppings were also counted in cabinets under fountain drink dispensers and the coffee bar.

The Citgo Food Mart failed this inspection, and the store is prohibited from serving food or drinks until the pest issue is resolved.
