4 months ago 0

Ryan Cochran-Siegle, an accomplished American alpine skier, secured Team USA’s most recent success with a silver medal finish in the men’s super-G at the Winter Olympics on Wednesday. With a final time of 1:25.45, Cochran-Siegle placed just 0.13 seconds behind the Swiss skiing sensation Franjo von Allmen, who claimed his third gold medal at the Milan Cortina Games. In a strong competition, Switzerland’s Marco Odermatt took home the bronze medal.

Cochran-Siegle was among the athletes who stood out in the men’s super-G event, which took place at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Bormio, Italy. For Cochran-Siegle, this silver medal marks his second Olympic accolade, following his previous silver in the same event at the Beijing Olympics in 2022. His first Olympic appearance was in 2018 at Pyeongchang, where he finished 14th in the super-G. This year, Cochran-Siegle had also participated in the downhill event and finished 18th.

During the race, all eyes were on the 29-year-old Cochran-Siegle as he made his mark in what has been a highly competitive field. His performance in the super-G highlighted his prowess, despite never having finished better than seventh in this event at the World Cup level throughout his career.

Alongside Cochran-Siegle, other American athletes participated in the super-G, including Sam Morse, Kyle Negomir, and River Radamus. Morse secured the 23rd spot with a time of 1:27.12, while Negomir placed 26th, clocking in at 1:28.62. Unfortunately, Radamus was unable to complete the course after losing his footing, which led to a visibly disappointed finish.

Cochran-Siegle hails from Vermont and is affiliated with the Mount Mansfield Club. He made his World Cup debut as a young 19-year-old, and throughout his career, he has been continuously pushing the limits. Following the conclusion of his Olympic events, he now plans to offer his support to his fellow skiing competitors as they continue to compete.

Switzerland’s Franjo von Allmen, after his victorious run, shared the podium with Cochran-Siegle, the silver medalist, and Marco Odermatt, the bronze medalist. Looking ahead, Kyle Negomir is expected to compete in the giant slalom and the team combined events later in the games, an effort he will share with teammate Ryder Sarchett. Previously, Negomir and Radamus also cooperated to finish 18th in the team combined.
