Serena Williams surprised the tennis community by securing a wildcard entry to Wimbledon. The 44-year-old legend will compete in the women’s singles category, filling the last available slot.
Previously, Williams received a wildcard to participate with her sister, Venus, in the doubles competition. Earlier this month, she expressed her consideration for returning to singles and has now confirmed her participation.

“You think I’m ready for singles? I need to get to work,” Serena mentioned, reflecting her determination to compete.
Throughout her career, Serena has won the Wimbledon singles title seven times. She is currently one Grand Slam title away from Margaret Court’s record of 24 victories, having achieved 23 herself.
Serena’s last singles win was in 2019 at Wimbledon against Romania’s Simona Halep. She has since participated in only two doubles matches after a four-year hiatus.
Her accolades in tennis are extensive, including achievements such as winning the Australian Open, French Open, and U.S. Open at least three times each. Together with her sister, she has also accomplished the career “Golden Slam” in both singles and doubles.

Serena remains a prominent figure in women’s tennis. Fans around the world eagerly anticipate her performance in the upcoming tournament, curious to see how she will fare.
In 2022, Serena expressed uncertainty about her future at Wimbledon but remains hopeful about participating. She has a strong track record on grass, winning 107 out of 123 singles matches on this surface.
Serena will learn her first-round opponent this coming Friday, with the tournament commencing on June 29.
