WNBA star Sophie Cunningham has become a key advocate for women’s sports, inspiring young athletes like Briley Lechner and Ella Frei. They commend her vocal support on Fox News for defending female athletes’ rights amid a national debate.

Briley Lechner shared experiences of unfair competition with a transgender athlete. Ella Frei is involved in a lawsuit about locker room safety, highlighting the ongoing challenges young female athletes face.

Sophie Cunningham, Indiana Fever guard, recently reaffirmed her stance on protecting girls’ sports, stating, ‘I said what I said. I think it’s kind of common sense.’ Her commitment has sparked a rallying cry among female athletes.

Frei expressed gratitude to Cunningham during a ‘Fox & Friends’ appearance, saying, ‘I want to say a huge thank you to Sophie because it’s really brave for her to stand up for young girls like Riley and I.’

Cunningham’s advocacy extends to safeguarding Title IX, a fundamental law that ensures protection for women’s sports. Her perspective resonates with athletes like Frei and Lechner, who have firsthand experience with the debate over women’s sports.

Lechner recounted competing and sharing a locker room with a transgender athlete, feeling emboldened by Cunningham’s courage to speak out. She stated, ‘It is making it 10 times more inspiring, and it’s encouraging me and a lot of other female athletes to speak out.’

Ella Frei similarly emphasized the impact of Cunningham’s influence: ‘I hope, and I pray that more and more people contribute and continue to speak up.’
