Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette, from South Carolina, engaged with reporters following Gov. Henry McMaster’s endorsement for her in the upcoming Republican gubernatorial primary set for February 12, 2026, in Columbia, S.C. Both Evette and Attorney General Alan Wilson are vying for the nomination to succeed Gov. McMaster.
In a surprising turn, the president extended his endorsement to Wilson, despite previously backing Evette in the lead-up to the primary held on June 9. Gov. McMaster remains in support of Evette.
“I can’t hurt one of them by only Endorsing the other, so therefore, I am going to Endorse, for Governor of South Carolina, both Pam Evette and Alan Wilson!”
The president expressed his sentiments on social media, adding, “It’s a Wealth of Riches – With either one you can’t go wrong.”
The winner from the runoff happening on Tuesday will proceed to face off against state Representative Jermaine Johnson, a Democrat, in November. The polls are set to close at 7 p.m. EDT. Stay updated with Decision Desk HQ for live results.
