The streets of downtown Orlando, Florida, were recently disrupted by hundreds of teenagers on e-bikes, leading to a chaotic scene that drew police intervention. This incident occurred earlier this month and involved activities that posed significant safety risks and caused traffic delays.
The Orlando Police Department released a video on social media showing the group of teens swarming vehicles at intersections. Particularly concerning was the blocking of an ambulance with active lights. Authorities stated that the teens’ actions are subject to charges.
Reckless riding, running red lights, and blocking traffic put everyone at risk, including the riders themselves.
The video included footage of officers apprehending some of the riders, captured through both body cameras and surveillance. The police emphasized on their social media that such hazardous behavior will not be allowed in the city. Enforcement of laws is a priority to ensure safety downtown.
In a statement to FOX 35 Orlando, police noted the challenges faced in apprehending every participant due to the group’s size and mobility. Officers took action whenever it was deemed safe to do so.
The specific number of charges filed against the teenagers remains undisclosed as the situation unfolded.
