The Raiders franchise began its journey on January 30, 1960, in Oakland, California. As a founding member of the American Football League (AFL), the team transitioned to the National Football League (NFL) following the AFL-NFL merger in 1970.
The team’s history includes a notable relocation. In 1982, the Raiders moved to Los Angeles and played there until 1994. Yet, the beginning of the 1995 season marked their return to Oakland, a city they would remain in until 2020.
The path to Las Vegas began in 2017 when the NFL approved the franchise’s application to relocate. The Raiders officially made Las Vegas their home in 2020, marking a new era for the team.
The Raiders have had significant achievements in their history. They secured three Super Bowl wins. Their first came in 1976 during Super Bowl XI under the guidance of the legendary coach John Madden. Subsequent victories occurred in 1980 (Super Bowl XV) and 1983 (Super Bowl XVIII), both achieved without Madden as head coach.
Competing in the AFC West division, the Raiders face the Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos, and Los Angeles Chargers. Their long-standing rivalries within this division continue to be a central aspect of their competitive spirit.
