After a busy season supporting the New York Knicks, Timothee Chalamet is returning to his film career. He’s joining forces with Selena Gomez for an upcoming animated movie by Illumination called “Not Alone.” Scheduled for a 2027 release, this Universal Studios project will feature Chalamet as Joe, an introverted rocket mechanic living a solitary life.
Selena Gomez, familiar to many from Disney, will portray Fran, a brilliant astro-botanist working on the world’s first plant-fueled rocket. The film’s announcement took place at the Annecy Film Festival in France.
The synopsis reveals that Joe and Fran unite to prepare for a groundbreaking rocket launch, immediately sparking a connection. However, neither is skilled in romance. Complications arise when three tiny aliens, Dunk, Welly, and Shirm, seek refuge in Joe’s home. These aliens, fleeing from an inefficient officer named Zandro, hope to use Fran’s rocket to return to safety.
Eric Guillon, known for co-directing “Despicable Me 3,” is set to direct the film.
The announcement delighted fans, though many were surprised by the unexpected collaboration. Reactions were varied, with one fan calling the pairing “an insane pairing we all never expected” and another expressing excitement over the chaotic and charming plot.
However, discussions arose on social media regarding a rumored incident involving Gomez, Chalamet, and Kylie Jenner at the 2024 Golden Globes. The rumor suggested Gomez’s wish for a photo with Chalamet was thwarted by Jenner. Addressing this, Chalamet dismissed any animosity in a TMZ interview, confirming good relations on all sides.
Despite these rumors, the upcoming film promises to showcase Chalamet and Gomez in an entertaining new adventure.
