Trump Tours New Air Force One Gifted by Qatar

President Donald Trump expressed his enthusiasm after inspecting the newest addition to the presidential aircraft fleet at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland. This event took place on June 19, 2026.

The new Air Force One, a luxury Boeing 747, arrived ahead of schedule, thanks to the Qatari government’s gesture. The plane’s delivery sparked debates on legal and ethical grounds after Qatar proposed replacing the existing presidential aircraft last year. In May, President Trump mentioned that declining the offer would be unwise.

Estimates from industry experts suggested the plane could be valued at approximately $400 million. During a statement in front of the aircraft, Trump extended gratitude to the Emir of Qatar and lauded Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. He remarked on the plane’s craftsmanship, dubbing it the “world’s most luxurious plane.” Trump stated, “This plane was transformed into a flying White House at a level of luxury nobody’s ever seen before.” He emphasized the rapid completion, achieved in ten months, as unexpected.

Designated as the VC-25B Bridge aircraft, the plane will soon undergo crucial commissioning flights. Referred to by the Air Force as a “final exam,” these flights are essential for integrating the plane into the official presidential airlift fleet. Once tests are successful, the aircraft will be fully operational for presidential missions. Initially used by the Qatari Head of State, the aircraft has been adapted to fulfill its new role until the long-term VC-25B is delivered.

The Air Force initially projected the aircraft’s delivery for 2028. However, by adjusting certain criteria, they expedited the delivery to 2027. The Air Force clarified that modifications primarily focused on mission requirements without major alterations to the existing interior design. General Ken Wilsbach, Air Force Chief of Staff, commended the timely delivery, acknowledging the efforts for realizing a secure and reliable airborne command post within a shortened timeframe.
