U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) recently announced the execution of five military strikes targeting the Islamic State (ISIS) in an ongoing effort to maintain a permanent defeat of the terrorist organization. According to their statement, these operations took place between January 27 and February 2, focusing on critical ISIS infrastructure such as communication locations, logistics hubs, and weapons storage facilities. A total of 50 precision-guided munitions were deployed by various aircraft, including fixed-wing, rotary-wing, and unmanned vehicles.
Admiral Brad Cooper, commander of CENTCOM, emphasized their dedication to preventing an ISIS comeback in Syria. “These operations show our continued commitment to ensuring ISIS does not resurface,” Cooper stated. “By working in collaboration with coalition and partner forces, we make America, the region, and the world a safer place.”
The recent strikes form part of Operation Hawkeye Strike, a mission initiated in response to an ISIS ambush on December 13, 2025, in Palmyra, Syria. This attack resulted in the deaths of two U.S. service members and an American interpreter. Since the operation began, CENTCOM has reported the elimination or capture of over 50 ISIS militants, including the targeted killing of Bilal Hasan al-Jasim, a leader linked to the Palmyra attack.
The U.S. military’s operations in Syria have been ongoing, with over 80 missions carried out in the past six months to neutralize terrorist threats. As part of their commitment, U.S. forces continue to patrol critical areas such as Qamishli in Syria’s northeastern region to maintain regional stability.
