US and Iran Agree on Ceasefire and Reopening of Strait of Hormuz

The United States and Iran have reached a milestone agreement to cease hostilities and reopen the crucial Strait of Hormuz. This announcement, made by President Donald Trump alongside Iranian officials, signifies an end to ongoing conflicts, including those in Lebanon, while initiating the withdrawal of US forces from the region.

Reports from Iran’s Mehr News reveal that the agreement also involves Iran’s commitment to refrain from producing nuclear weapons, in addition to lifting certain oil and financial sanctions on Iran. The draft allows for a 60-day negotiation period to finalize the details, with the signing expected to take place on Friday in Switzerland, according to Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

This development arrives amidst Trump’s impending visit to France for the G7 summit, where he will face European leaders who oppose his stances on Iran and the Ukraine-Russia conflict. Senator Lindsey Graham indicated that Trump might express frustration over the lack of support from European allies, potentially resetting discussions on Ukraine-Russia.

Israel’s future actions remain uncertain, especially following its strike on Lebanon, which drew criticism from both Iran and Trump. Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that Israel would maintain its forces in designated security zones, including Lebanon, Gaza, and Syria.

Trump’s UFC Night at the White House

In an unusual sporting spectacle, the UFC hosted the UFC Freedom 250 event on the South Lawn of the White House. With more than 4,000 attendees, including Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Cabinet members, military personnel, and VIPs, the event combined pageantry, shocking outcomes, and a unique atmosphere.

The festivities began earlier with a UFC Fan Fest on the Ellipse in Washington, D.C., culminating in the evening fights. Fighters made dramatic entrances from the White House to the octagon, supported by veterans and first responders.

UK’s Social Media Ban for Under-16s

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced a comprehensive ban on social media use for individuals under 16. Citing concerns for children’s mental well-being and safety, the ban targets popular platforms like Snapchat, TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and X. Messaging services such as WhatsApp and Signal are currently excluded from this restriction.

The Hidden Number in Blood Pressure Readings

Your blood pressure includes a lesser-known detail called pulse pressure. This measure reflects the stiffness of your blood vessels, impacting your heart and brain health, according to Dr. Charles Hong of Michigan State University. Elevated pulse pressure is associated with increased risks of heart disease and stroke.

It points to conditions like atherosclerosis when plaque accumulates in the arteries. Maintaining healthy pulse pressure may lower the chance of dementia-related deaths, Dr. Hong noted.
