The United States Men’s National Team (USMNT) faced off against Paraguay in a World Cup group stage match at Los Angeles Stadium. The game commenced at 9 p.m. ET, captivating fans with its intense setting.
Under the guidance of coach Mauricio Pochettino, the USMNT ranked 17th in the FIFA World Rankings, began their World Cup journey with a fortuitous start. In the sixth minute, Paraguay’s Damián Bobadilla inadvertently scored an own goal, giving the US an early advantage.

Folarin Balogun enhanced the lead by scoring in the 30th minute. The New York native’s goal marked an important milestone in his international career, being his first in the World Cup. His excitement was palpable as he celebrated with teammates.
Balogun’s goal positioned the US with a two-goal cushion, a significant achievement as it became the third-quickest double score for the team in World Cup history. Previous records include a 29th-minute score against Portugal in 2002 and a 15th-minute goal in a 1930 match against Paraguay.
Not long before halftime, Balogun scored again, extending the lead to 3-0. This time, he capitalized on a well-placed pass from Malik Tillman, executing a precise shot into the top-left corner of the goal.
As the first half concluded, the USMNT held a commanding 3-0 lead over their opponents.
Paraguay managed to score in the 73rd minute with a goal from midfielder Mauricio, narrowing the gap to 3-1. Despite this, the US team maintained their control and secured their victory.
The USMNT is set to play against Australia on June 19 in Seattle, as their World Cup campaign continues.
