Simon Cowell’s fiancée, Lauren Silverman, recently shared personal reflections on finding out she was pregnant with their son, Eric, during a tumultuous time. Lauren, who was married to businessman Andrew Silverman at the time, opened up in an interview on “Happy Mum: The Podcast,” discussing both the end of her marriage and the media frenzy that followed.
Reflecting on this challenging period, Silverman explained the emotional turmoil she experienced. “There are so many emotions that went with that,” she said. It marked the end of her marriage, which she described as one of her life’s hardest phases. While she does not regret her past decisions, she admits wishing it could have unfolded differently.
Lauren and Cowell’s relationship became public in 2013 after news broke of her pregnancy. This revelation led to her husband filing for divorce shortly afterward. She recounted the difficulty of enjoying her pregnancy due to extensive media coverage, which became her primary concern.
“I was just trying to get through it and wake up every day without falling apart,” she explained. “The media attention made it hard to feel at peace.”
The intense scrutiny was relentless, as she was on magazine covers and stories swirled around her. Despite the backlash, Silverman remained steadfast in her belief that Simon was the right person for her. “I just believed it was meant to be,” she asserted.
Acknowledging public perceptions, Silverman empathized with those who felt negatively about her actions. She didn’t blame them, knowing how it might appear. She resolved to endure the criticism, focusing on taking responsibility for her choices.
Twelve years on, Silverman says she has forgiven herself for past mistakes. “I have done whatever I feel I need to do to make peace with the situation,” she declared, adding that she no longer lets public opinion affect her peace.
Their son Eric, born in February 2014, brought a positive change in their lives. Cowell has spoken about how becoming a father transformed him, describing his son as having “saved him” during a difficult period. In a recent podcast, Cowell shared that when Lauren told him about the pregnancy, it changed everything for him and made him happy again.
