Jennifer Lopez recently discussed her past marriage and divorce from Ben Affleck on the ‘Smartless’ podcast with Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett. Lopez, an actress and singer, reflected on how the end of her marriage affected her life choices. She admitted, ‘There were times when I felt like my life exploded because of my choices and things I needed to change about myself.’
Lopez emphasized the importance of recognizing the need for personal change. After her separation from Affleck, she canceled her tour to self-reflect. She described this as a turning point, questioning, ‘What is going on with you? Forget about everybody else.’ This marked a period of introspection, leading to her realization that personal growth was necessary.
Affleck and Lopez were married in July 2024 after a small ceremony in Las Vegas and celebrated with a larger gathering in Georgia. They separated in April 2024, with Lopez filing for divorce in August. The couple had a history of dating from 2002 to 2004 after meeting on the set of ‘Gigli.’ They reconnected in 2021, eventually marrying 20 years after their initial engagement.
In an interview with ‘CBS Sunday Morning,’ Lopez called her divorce ‘the best thing that ever happened to me.’ She explained, ‘It helped me grow and become more self-aware. I’m different now; I realized the joy is in living and embracing life and its lessons.’
While promoting her latest film, ‘Office Romance,’ Lopez shared her insights on past relationships with Elle UK. She claimed she has a ‘PhD in narcissists’ and could ‘give a Ted Talk on human behavior, emotional intelligence, and dysfunctional relationships.’
Beyond Ben Affleck, Lopez has been married to Ojani Noa, Cris Judd, and Marc Anthony. She also had high-profile relationships with Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, Casper Smart, and Alex Rodriguez.
