On Wednesday, leaders from several of the world’s wealthiest nations will meet with executives from prominent technology companies. This gathering, as part of the Group of 7 nations’ initiative, will focus on addressing the opportunities and threats associated with artificial intelligence (AI).

Notable Tech Executives Attending:

• Dario Amodei, Anthropic: As a co-founder of Anthropic, a leading American AI company, Dario Amodei will be a key participant. His company has developed advanced AI models that raise significant security concerns. The U.S. government has expressed contention over the use of these models in military contexts, recently deciding that foreign nationals should not access certain models. Previously, co-founder Christopher Olah attended a major presentation by Pope Leo XIV on AI dangers.
• Sam Altman, OpenAI: The chief executive of OpenAI, known for creating ChatGPT, Sam Altman believes AI will transform society. He advocates for mitigating potential downsides, suggesting that governments should consider sharing AI profits with citizens. Recently, OpenAI published a 13-page policy paper comparing AI to the Industrial Revolution and urged lawmakers to respond ambitiously.
• Arthur Mensch, Mistral: Co-founder of Europe’s esteemed AI firm Mistral, Arthur Mensch is pivotal in efforts for Europe to assert its leadership in a field dominated by American giants.
