Blake Lively pursued significant compensation after resolving a lawsuit with co-star Justin Baldoni. A recent legal document disclosed by Fox News Digital highlights Lively’s request for the court to award her potential multi-million-dollar damages.
The 38-year-old actress had faced a defamation lawsuit of $400 million from Baldoni, which was dismissed. Lively’s legal team argued that the countersuit was not only baseless but also retaliatory. They claimed the lawsuit aimed to silence her efforts to highlight alleged sexual harassment and misconduct.
Lively is determined to obtain a comprehensive financial judgment that covers attorneys’ fees, triple damages for purported harm, and punitive damages. Her attorneys accused Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios of abusing the legal system, prompting her move for financial accountability.
This settlement is a resounding victory for Blake Lively. By settling, Justin Baldoni and the defendants now face personal liability for trying to silence and intimidate Ms. Lively.
Representatives for Lively emphasized that her concerns were acknowledged as legitimate, countering the notion that her claims were fabricated. Lively’s mission remains to expose and hold accountable those who use smear campaigns and retaliatory lawsuits to intimidate survivors.
Conversely, a spokesperson for Baldoni and Wayfarer contested Lively’s claims, interpreting the outcome as favorable for their side. Bryan Freedman stated that most of Lively’s claims, including sexual harassment and defamation accusations, had been dismissed.
Baldoni had previously asserted that Lively’s allegations were false and intended to rebuild her reputation following issues during the film’s press tour. His defamation lawsuit was dismissed in June 2025.
Despite more than a year of legal proceedings, Lively’s retaliation claims were allowed to proceed. The case highlighted allegations of a coordinated effort by some Hollywood insiders to damage her reputation. A federal judge limited the case to focus on these retaliation claims and a breach of contract claim shortly before the trial.
The settlement, filed on Thursday, indicates a final resolution between Lively and Baldoni. This agreement ensures that the allegations cannot be reopened in court.
